She was predeceased by: her parents, William Birch and Ethel Birch (MacDonald); her husband Bob Kissinger; her siblings, Catherine Balles and Chuck Birch; her brother-in-law Del Kaatz; and her son-in-law Terry Smaaland.
She is survived by: her children, Sue Smaaland, Cindy Knutson (Kurt), Jerry Hoeppner (Rachel), Chad Kissinger and Todd Kissinger; her grandchildren, Billy O'Malley (Joanna), Donny O'Malley (Natalie), Bryan O'Malley, Dan Knutson (Jenny), Jenessa Eales (Matt), Nicki Hoepner, Jessica Hoeppner, Alex Thomas, Brooke Thomas, Ashlynn Hoeppner, Codey Kissinger (Ashley) and Sheena Kissinger; her sister MaryJo Kaatz; and her siblings-in-law, George Balles, Lorie Birch and Karen Holzwordt (Mark). She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
