She was predeceased by: her parents, Kenneth Megonigle and Gretchen Megonigle (Hoaglan); her husband John Pero; and her siblings, Byron Megonigle, Tim Megonigle and Judy Megonigle.

She is survived by: her brother Paul Megonigle (Florida); her siblings-in-law, Doris Megonigle (Iowa), Alice (Don) Wolfgram (Marshfield) and Del Anderson (Kenosha); and her children, Vicky Pingel (Tom), Dave Pero (Pat), Kim Hilgers (Pete), Mike Pero (Dana) and Lori Fisher (Tim).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
