He was predeceased by: his parents, George Ertl and Thecla Ertl (Kolb); his in-law Mike Pankratz (Hilaria); his brothers, Jim Ertl (Arla) and Bob Ertl (Dorothy); and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Ule, Larry Kaiser and Robert Wenzel.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Ertl of Michael's Catholic Church; his children, Lori Nikolai (Paul), Allen (Lisa) and Greg Ertl; his grandchildren, Corey Ertl (Candyce), Courtney Boeger (Alex), Michaela Hamus (Alex), Brittney Swensen (Hunter) and Logan Multerer (Connor); his sisters, Mary Carol Zygarlicke (Peter) and Donna Nest (Rick); and his in-laws, Marilyn Ule, Donald Pankratz (Jane), Duane Pankratz (Diane), Carol Raab (Joe), Janet Kaiser, Sharon Wenzel, Dennis Pankratz (Jane) and Carla Elmhorst (Will). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
