Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Joanne Melander (Baldwin, Wisconsin), born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, who passed away at the age of 85, on February 3, 2024. She was predeceased by : her parents, Elmer F. Schmidt and Mary Volland (Schmidt); her daughter Melissa; and her stepfather Bill. She is survived by : her husband Donald Melander; her children, Debra Wachholz (Rich), Ray Melander (Pam), Andrea Nthole, Mitchel Melander (Lynn), Mark Melander (Cheryl), Michelle King (Jeff) and Melanie Mader (Tony); and her brother Ronald Schmidt (Renna). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren.

She made clothes for her children and later quilts to be donated to missions around the world.
