He was predeceased by: his parents, Ole Heffernan and Edith Heffernan; and his siblings, Jerry Heffernan and Mavis McBride. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Heffernan; his children, Scott McQuary (Elisa) and Tarah Borreson (Todd); his grandchildren, Amanda (Keith), Russell, Savannah (Brad), Cody and Macy; and his great grandchildren, Chase, Sophia, Malcolm, Bria, Milo and Rosalie. He is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 1st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Onalaska Legion, Post 336. The military honors will be held on Sunday, November 1st 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location.
