He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Machtan and Edna Machtan (Schultz); his son-in-law Alex Peter Pollema; and his siblings, Betty Stargardt (Gordy), Gordon Machtan and Ronald Machtan.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Helmbrecht; his children, Tracy Machtan and Andrea Pollema; his grandchildren, Margo James Pollema, Lucy Alletta Pollema and Hugo Kenneth Pollema; his brothers, Gary Machtan (Marian), Ross Machtan (Mazie), Roger Machtan (Joyce) and Wayne Machtan (Roni); and his sister-in-law Mary Ann Machtan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives, and good friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (727 8th St, Baraboo, WI 53913). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. The military honors was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Baraboo.
