He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Vance Sr. and Alta Melvin; his stepfather George Melvin; his siblings, Broderick Vance, Dennis Vance and Phyllis "Diane" Payton; and his grandson Jae'Von Vance.

He is survived by: his wife Debra "Debbie" Vance; his children, Christopher "Chris" Dressler (Vance) of Beloit, WI, Melinda Vance of Beloit, WI, Damien Vance (Michelle) of Apopka, FL and De'Adrick Vance (Ami) of Beloit, WI; his siblings, Robert Vance Jr. (Joyce) of Milwaukee, WI, Michael Vance of Beloit, WI, Richard Melvin (Pattie) of Charlotte, NC, Joanie Vance, Teresa Vance and Jackie Vance; and his close friends, Paul Sprague, L. T. Graham and Tom Evans. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
