He was predeceased by: his mother Matilda Carpenter, Sr. (Holmes); and his grandson Elijah Carpenter. He is survived by: his wife Josette Lorelle Cooper (Smith); his father Lenon Carpenter, Sr.; his children, Lenon Carpenter III, Kristina Carpenter, Tanisha Patterson (Michael), Niquisha Burns (Marcell) of Ruben and Malachi Carpenter; and his siblings, Leon Carpenter (Shirley), Barbara Neal, Terry Darnell Carpenter, Scott Carpenter and Anthony Carpenter.
