He was predeceased by : his parents, Ingwall Nelson and Beverly Nelson (Mickey); his brothers, Tom Nelson and Mark Nelson; his mother-in-law Gladys Lightfoot; and his brothers-in-law, Dr. Reuben Wagelie and Lance Lightfoot.

He is survived by : his wife Lola Nelson; his children, Heather Olmstead (Jeremy), Rachael Williams (Heath) and Joshua Nelson (Kim); his grandchildren, Elijah Williams (Stormy Staskal), Erik Williams, Emily Williams, Grace Olmstead, Nolan Nelson and Jordyn Nelson; his brother David Nelson (Pam); and his siblings-in-law, Bonnie Nelson, Carol Baertschi, Saundra Wagelie, Judy Lightfoot, Dennis Lightfoot (Dianne) and Gary Lightfoot (Colleen). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
