He was predeceased by: his siblings, Bill and Barbara Davies; and his brother-in-law Sammy Garofolo. He is survived by: his wife Lynda; his son Robb Champion; his grandson Bobby; his son Todd Champion (Julie); his siblings, Roady Champion (Nancy), Richard Champion, Wendy Lee (Rick), Kay Duarte (William), Lori Katterhenry (Dennis) and Kari Champion; his siblings-in-law, Colleen Champion, Gina Fry (Gary), Brad Davies and Tom Garofolo (Jean); Mike and Sam. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to Fishing Has No Boundaries Hayward Chapter.
