He is survived by: his daughters, Andrea Schmalz (Matt Frost), Michelle Brusberg (Michael) and Samantha Nauer (Nate); his grandchildren, Brooklynn, Kaitlin, Benjamin, Greta, Henry, Everett and Flynn; his father James "Jim" Schmalz; his brothers, Tom Schmalz (Sue), Ron Schmalz (Debbie), Mike Schmalz (Beth), Anthony Schmalz (Sue), Dan Schmalz (Linda), Doug Schmalz (Lynn) and Pat Schmalz (Annia); his siblings-in-law, Larry Melberg (Sandi Schober), Richard Melberg (Lori Hudson) and Jennifer Toothman (Bill); and his close friend Sue Temple. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
