Peter John Kuehl Obituary
Peter John Kuehl, 53, of Big Bend, Wisconsin, passed away surrounded by family on September 18, 2026, following a brief battle with an aggressive cancer. Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Robin Kuehl; his children, Russel, Ethan, Isabelle, and Chandler; and his brother, Josh (Kathleen) Kuehl. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Janalynn Kuehl.
Peter was a beloved English teacher at Ronald Reagan High School, where he dedicated 14 years to teaching, mentoring, and encouraging young people. For Peter, being a teacher was about much more than the classroom. He took great pride in coaching and supporting his students, helping them discover their strengths and believe in themselves. He had a particular passion for coaching girls' volleyball, where his enthusiasm, guidance, and commitment left a lasting impression on countless students.
Outside of school, Peter cherished time spent with his family and loved being outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping and looked forward to spending time at Plymouth Rock Campground, where he could relax, enjoy the outdoors, and make lasting memories with the people he loved.
Peter leaves behind a legacy of love, encouragement, and countless memories shared with his family, students, friends, and colleagues. Though his time was far too short, the lessons he taught and the lives he touched will remain with those who knew him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
A funeral service for Peter will be held at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Wauwatosa on Sunday, September 27, 2026. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to support the college education of Peter's children. Education was deeply important to Peter, both as a teacher and as a father, and he believed strongly in the opportunities that higher education could provide. Supporting his children's education is a meaningful way to honor his hopes for their futures and the values he worked so passionately to instill in them.
