He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Muir and Mildred "Maude" Muir (Horejsh); his sister Sandy Wesolowski; his children, Jacinda and Gary Jr. Muir; and his great grandchild Aarowyn Willaims.

He is survived by: his children, Chandra Ekern (Greg), Stacy Byerlay (Bryan), Lance Muir Sr. (Melinda), Ariana Cloud, Joanna Hill Roybal and James Hill; his grandchildren, Adam Decorah, Skylar Whitegull (Zachary), Jonas Whitegull (Jessica), Destiny Muir (Nathan), Lance Muir Jr., Alijas Whitegull, Lanie Byerlay, Christopher Muir, Jack Byerlay, Josiah Patterson, Jameson Patterson Jr., Marcus Sylvester, Hazel Patterson, Liam Hoover and Gemma Newberry; his great grandchildren, Aamina, Aamond, Navaya, Brooklyn, Lola, Ezra and Arthur; his brothers, Randy Chmiel (Walt) and Gordon A. Muir (Kim); his former wife Janet Muir; and his close friend Robert "Bobby" Barhyte (Thomas Hunter). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
