He was predeceased by: his parents, Dexter Onstad and Ruth Onstad; and his siblings, Dick, Bill, Marilyn, Rose (Tutti), Robert and David.

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Onstad; his sister Karen Wilkins (Ken) of Sun Prairie; his daughters, Lara Helbach (George) and Ann Eberhardt (Brad); his grandchildren, Nathan Stenulson (Chelsea), Megan Stenulson (Brandyn Stoker), Brandon Stenulson of Eau Claire, Zachary Zillmer of La Crosse, Alli Parker (Nate) and Madison Eberhardt; his stepgrandchildren, Zachary Helbach (Ashley) of Amherst, Lindsay Maves (Steve) of Wisconsin Rapids, Alex Helbach (Dasha) of Plover and Olivia Helbach of Seattle, WA; and his great grandchildren, Alaina, Khloe, Evalee, Amelia and Iyla Stenulson.
