Mary O'Brien Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Mary O'Brien of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on April 16, 2026 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Gertrude Flugstad and Robert Flugstad; her husband Jim O'Brien; and her siblings, John Flugstad and Katy Swender.

She is survived by: her daughter Amanda Gunn (Tyler); her sister Patty Hopkins (Terry); her grandsons, Jack and Tommy Gunn; and her siblings-in-law, Joy Flugstad of Cincinnati and David Swender of Appleton. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Following her retirement, Mary authored a book on the history of the Black River Falls Area Foundation, a project she was especially proud to complete.
