She was predeceased by: her parents, Leo Mergen and Clara Mergen (Hendrichs); her husband Carl J. Neis; her brothers, Robert and Peter Mergen; and her siblings-in-law, Donald Neis, Mary Neis and Mary Mergen.

She is survived by: her children, Sue Kaufman (Kevin), Tom (Jen), Laurie (Brian Whalen) and Kevin (Kyla); her grandchildren, Brett Kaufman, Kyle Kaufman, Kasey Kluesner, Kyle Mueller, Austin Neis, Alyssa Neis, Gabby Neis, Cade Stark and Teyl Stark; her sister Janice Stern (Leon); and her sister-in-law Mary Jane Thole. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be given to the West Grant Rescue Squad.
