Patricia Mary Zaar Obituary
Patricia (Pat) Mary Zaar, 78, of Brookfield, WI passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026. Pat was preceded by her parents Elroy and Caroline Schweitzer and her grandmother Lena Beichler. She is survived by her son Ryan Zaar.
Pat was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. She graduated from John Marshall High School and went to a secretarial school on the east side of Milwaukee. Her family owned a tavern restaurant called Lena's where her grandmother and both her parents worked. Pat spent most of her life as a stay-at-home mom and a caregiver to various family members. Before Pat retired, she worked at various nursing homes as an activity assistant working with residents for trivia, baking and crafting.
Pat was very creative and an avid crafter and antique collector who enjoyed crocheting, jewelry making in particular. As a way to give back and show her love to others, she frequently made crafts to give away to family, frends and various charities and hospitals. She loved her Victorian farmhouse and enjoyed gardening around the house.
Pat and Ryan travelled over the years often to Las Vegas, Maine and visited over 15 countries in Europe. Brussels, Amsterdam and London were her favorites and she enjoyed shopping wherever she travelled to.
A funeral service will be held for Pat at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Wauwatosa on Saturday, September 26, 2026. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m to 11:00 a.m, with a service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to either St Jude Children's Hospital (https://www.stjude.org) or Humane Animal Welfare Society - HAWS of Waukesha County in Pat's memory.
