He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Yakish and George Yakish; his wife Tess; and his brothers-in-law, Paul Styve and Don Braatz.

He is survived by: his siblings, Janis, Ione, Steve, Tom, Wayne and Frank; his children, Michelle Grittner (H. James), Jon Yakish and Susanne Dobke (Kevin); his grandsons, Seth and Joel Dobke; and his sister-in-law Paula Braatz.
