He was predeceased by: his parents, Roger Hafner and Elaine Hafner (Gipp); his sister-in-law Deborah Hafner; and his niece Jessica. He is survived by: his significant other Tim Malueg; his siblings, James Hafner, Lee Hafner (Wendy), Tina Baker (Jeff), Duane Hafner (Wendy Rosenburg), Tom Hafner (Theresa Hafner) and Holly Schmidt (Randy); his siblings-in-law, Patty Mulder (Roger), Tom Malueg (Lori O'Keefe), Ted Maleug (Dawn Kolberg), Priscilla Winkel (Greg) and Pam Bruggink; his goddaughter Crystal Kristof; and his friend Trent Dreyfuss. He is also survived by his dog show family; other relatives and countless friends.
