He was predeceased by : his parents, Clarence Wendler and Julia Wendler (Meyer); his sister Barbara; his son-in-law Timothy Nowak; his grandson Mitchell Nowak; and his siblings-in-law, Jim Petersen, Paul Schaumberg and Cathy McDonnell.

He is survived by : his wife Kathleen McDonnell; his children, Judy Nowak, Chris Wiza (Mike), Dan and James Wendler; his granddaughter Madison Wiza (Kellen Ferkey); his sisters, Dorothy Petersen and Pat Muehl (John); and his siblings-in-law, Maggie Schaumberg and Bill McDonnell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
