He is survived by: his wife Vivian Birk; his children, David Birk (Beth), Brad Birk (April) and Rhonda Smillie (Allen); his grandchildren, Nicole Niemeier (Dakota), Sarah Louis (Steven), Annie Metz (Aaron), Rachel Birk, Brooke DeBates-Thrall (Phoebe), Sebastian Birk and Michaela Birk; his great grandchildren, Kaelynn Niemeier, Kennedi Niemeier and Ridge Louis; his siblings, Joan Griep, Marilyn Wallace, Kat Nesbit (Ross), Joleen Hassel (Todd), Bob Birk, Dick Birk (Phyllis) and Mike Birk (Brenda); his siblings-in-law, Violet Birk, Richard Borgen (Rosie) and Janice Volden (Ronnie); and his friend Mike O'Donnell. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (2947 Thinnes St, Cross Plains, WI 53528). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. The military honors was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 12:15 PM to 12:30 PM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery (2947 Thinnes St, Cross Plains, WI 53528). A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (2947 Thinnes St, Cross Plains, WI 53528).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's name to the American Cancer Society, Heat and Housing for Heroes, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
