He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Ann Dwyer; his son John Clair; his parents, Mary Trehy Clair and J. Emmett Clair; his siblings, Mary Catherine "Kate" Clair, Geraldine Gilboy, Anna Clair and Joseph E. Clair, Jr.; and his grandson Christopher Scherer, Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Catherine, Kerry and Ed; his children-in-law, Chris Scherer, Kevin Barry and Renee Brown Clair; his grandchildren, Catherine (Chris), Scherer, Kerry (Kevin), Barry and Ed (Renee); and his sister Joann Clair Lyons. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

The family asks any donations in his honor be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, the Epilepsy Foundation or a favorite charity of your choice.
