She was predeceased by: her parents, Luther Idstrom and Eling Idstrom (Monson); her husband John C. Spellmeyer; her sister Joan Carroll (Monson); and her sisters-in-law, Delona Kennedy (Russell) and Betty Jean Hamilton (Franklin).

She is survived by: her children, John Spellmeyer (Brooke) of Derby, Kansas, David Spellmeyer of Oakland, California and Susan Jones (Don) of Ashland, Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Andrew, Trayce, Jayden, Don and Elaine; and her brother Roger Idstrom (Anne) of Louisville, Kentucky. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren.

In memory of Elaine, her family requests that any contributions be made to the Elaine Idstrom and John Spellmeyer Scholarship at Augustana College, which provides financial assistance to academically high-achieving students with demonstrated financial need.
