He was predeceased by: his parents, Lydia Johnston and Will; his former spouse Bernadean McGaver; his brother Steve; his wife Eunice Bradford (Dahl); his son Mickey; his stepdaughter Kristine Hallum; and his grandsons, David Karker and Mike Bradford.

He is survived by: his sons, Steven Johnston (Sue) and Wayne Johnston (Karen); his stepchildren, Steven Bradford (Deb) and Kay Karker (Tom); and his son-in-law Rick Hallum. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
