He was predeceased by: his parents, John Giese and Olga Giese (Olson); his wife Patricia Burke; his son John; his siblings, Eugene and Audrey Hetzel (Jerry); and his siblings-in-law, Billie McGivern (Mac), Ethel Calkins (Keith), George Burke (Dorothy) and Jack Burke (Frances).
He is survived by: his children, Barbara Barrickman (Richard), Janet Negus (Fred), Ann Giese (Skip LaDousa), Dennis (Ann Vandeberg), Peter (Sean Slusser), Paul (Michele) and William (Mary Mitchell); his grandchildren, Michael Barrickman, Katie Taylor, Jessica Hesson (David), Claire Frank (Kort), Jack Negus (Natalie), Carolyn Dammen (Aaron), Rachel Koplin (Tim), Laura Giese (Scott), Amanda Giese (Patrick), Nick Giese (Andrew), Grace Giese, Lucas Giese, Jonah Giese, Eleanor Giese and Simon Giese; his great grandchildren, Lauren, Connor Dammen, Devin, Andrew Barrickman, Calvin, Theo Taylor, Lainey, Scarlett, Chloe Frank, Sofie, Emily Koplin, Elodie, Lucie Negus, Beau, Asher Hesson and Hallie Jo Swan; Ginger Giese. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and good friends.
He proudly moved to the WI Veteran's Home in Chippewa Falls, WI in 2019 almost immediately dealing with a yearlong period of COVID isolation which he managed by learning how to FaceTime and Zoom with frequent window visits from family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hope Village-Helping Hands for the Unsheltered, 1825 Kennedy Road, c/o Mike Cohoon, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729 or Sojourner House-Eau Claire, 618 South Barstow St., Eau Claire, WI 54701 or the choice of the donor.
