He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elizabeth and LaMoine Hugh MacLaughlin (Mac); his wife Marylyn Ann MacLaughlin; and his brothers, Robert and James MacLaughlin. He was also cherished by six children, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

“My memories of Moinie include many trips to Coon Fork campground. He was a good friend to my parents, Fred and Sally Black. Because of Moinie, I learned something that most middle school boys don't know. One afternoon, Moinie re-textured the ceiling in my parent's bedroom. After he had finished the job he left one of his business cards on our kitchen counter. I read the card and encountered the phrase "Cat Houses Free". My mom had to explain that one to me! Thanks for the education Moinie!”
