He is survived by: his wife Gay Noree Gilbertson (Olson); his son Joseph Gilbertson (Emily); his grandchildren, Graham and Maren; his son Steven Gilbertson (Heather); his grandchildren, Tate and Wes; his son Matthew Gilbertson (Savannah); his brother-in-law George Stecher (Sue Falch); his godson John Stecher; his sister-in-law Julie Backus (Lane); his nephews, Branden Backus, Christopher Backus (Sophorn), Conrad and Kayleah; his brother-in-law Eric Olson (Michelle); and his goddaughter Elizabeth Emery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Les Gilbertson Scholarship at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, named in honor of Paul's father, or to a local charity of your choice in Paul's memory.
