He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred F. Engel and Dorothy E. Engel Lavey (Schaefer); his stepfather John Lavey; his grandson Tommy Reilly; his parents-in-law, Loren and Vera Gudex; his siblings, Dolores Schmitz (Vernon), Mona Engel, Marianne Timblin (Bill), Barbara Engel and Allan Engel (Sheila); and his brother-in-law Gordon Immel.
He is survived by: his wife Gloria Gudex; his daughter Lori Reilly (Steve); his granddaughter Katie Gellings (Beau); his great grandchildren, Charlie and Maggie; his children, Kelly Keller (Jason), Baby Keller, Jamie Reilly, Brittany Reilly and Tim Engel (Ann Marie Sztukowski); his grandchildren, Elicia Buch (Aaron), Owen Engel and Evonna Engel; his daughter Shelly Abler (Chad); his grandchildren, Bennett, Madelyn and Silas Abler; his children, Jacob and Emma Julka; his siblings, Carolyn Immel and John Engel; and his siblings-in-law, Delores Haack (Delbert), Don Gudex (Diane) and Gary Gudex (Jen).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hope Lutheran Church, Eden Firemen's Association, or Old Glory Honor Flight.
