He is survived by: his wife Mary Wheaton; his sister Judy LaRue; his nieces, Therese Null, Kara Woodford, Lisa Wheaton and Heidi Wheaton (Ted Frank); his nephew Charles Wheaton (Linda); his grandchildren, Jake Woodford, Alex Woodford (Adrienne), Austin Wheaton (Kendra), Lauren Marchant (Zach), Evan Wheaton, Nathan Frank, Brenna Frank, Theodore Frank and Hadley Frank; and his great grandchildren, Allie, Landon, Tucker and Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to organizations dedicated to education, conservation, or the arts in his honor.
