He was predeceased by: his parent Máté Szedlak; and his sister Anna Fazeli. He is survived by: his wife Doreen Alberta Schaefer; his daughters, Rebecca Young (Oliver), Sarah Detlaff (Robert) and Ruth Gaba (Latif); his grandchildren, Olivia Zange (Eric), Benjamin Young, Eleanor Young, Rachel Grenz (Chris), David Detlaff and Hannah Scheffel (Zach); and his brother Máté Szedlak Jr..

Memorials preferred to Zion Lutheran Church Cleghorn and LCMS Missions to Japan.
