He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis Murtha and Margaret Murtha (Duke); and his sister Mary Murtha Roy. He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Hankey and Matthew Murtha (Lisa); the mother of his children Diane Meinardi Murtha; his stepchildren, Elisabeth Landt (Steve), William Wertz and Catherine Wertz (Jay Siemiaszko); his grandchildren, Alex Murtha, Spencer Murtha (Ellie), Henry Murtha, Mary Cate Landt (Quentin Williams), Aidan Landt (Rachel Mason), Delaney Landt, Tommy Landt (Brooke), Colin Wertz, Ella Wertz and Sebastian Zagornik; and his great grandchild Xavier Williams.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the St. Joan of Arc Parish (3698 Lyons St, Evanston, IL 60203).
