He was predeceased by: his parents, William Dempsey and Norma Dempsey (Schober); his siblings, Harry Dempsey and Martha Bendig; and his granddaughter Erin.

He is survived by: his wife Eileen; his children, Diane Watson and Bill Dempsey; his grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Elizabeth, Elivia, Eleah, Elijah, Elliott, Nathan and Dane; and his great grandchild Aden.

Prior to his heart surgery, he was also a regular blood donor with the Red Cross, donating more than 36 units of blood!
