He is survived by: his wife Linda Schmitt; his children, Katie Jernigan, Heather Brown (Jernigan), Jared Jernigan, Brian Jernigan (Jamie), Hannah Jernigan, Malinda Aney (Richard Jr.) and Melissa Schmitt; his brothers, Ralph Jernigan (Judy) and Dave Jernigan (Storm); and his grandchildren, Nicholas (Nicki), Gerald, Dontae, Quinn, Danyelle, Julian, Brayden, Jayden, Ashlynn Jernigan, Emily, Noah Aney and Lila Heminover. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
