He was predeceased by: his mother Olivia Birschbach (Michels); his wife RoseMary Kohlmann; his stepmother Frances Landreman-Birschbach; his stepgrandchild Kelly Henderson; his brothers, Charles, Melvin, Franklin, Kenneth, Harold, Stanley and Joseph Birschbach; his sisters-in-law, Margaret, Betty, Karen and Linda Birschbach; his stepsiblings, Jane Losh (Joe), Jerome Landreman (Madeline) and Robert; his parents-in-law, August and Anna Kohlmann; and his siblings-in-law, Ambrose Kohlmann, Dorothy Ann Kohlmann, Joseph Kohlman (Mary) and Alfred Kohlmann.

He is survived by: his close friend Janice Halbach; his children, Tom Birschbach (Mary), Joe Birschbach (Trisha), Shirley Towne (Tim), Diane Birschbach (Ken), Linda Freund (Gary), JoAnn Bille (Larry) and Patty Birschbach (Mary Kirsch); his grandchildren, Carla Marquardt (Joshua), Gwyn Ditter (Kevin), Kevin Birschbach (Valerie), Christine Birschbach (Garret Schoof), Pamela Hilt (Jeremy), Kari Winke (Justin), Sarah Freund, Cody Birschbach (Ali), Tarah Smith (Jason), Grant Birschbach (Haley), Emily Rens (Nate) and Nate Bille (Jenna); his brother Lyle Birschbach (Carol); his siblings-in-law, Janet Birschbach, Catherine Birschbach, Sharleen Birschbach, Edith "Edie" Birschbach, Eugene Kohlmann, Catherine Kulow (Gerald), Dolores Kohlmann and AnnaMae Entringer (Delmar); Denise Halbach (Loren Smith). He is also survived by 30 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
