He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Metzger and Betty Metzger (Wurst); and his wife Norine Theis. He is survived by: his children, Christine Obenauer, Lara Birkholz (Chad), Carl Metzger, Emily Stoering (Josiah), Paul Metzger (Kanda) and Peter Metzger (Lydia); his grandchildren, Zephania Obenauer, Nathan Birkholz (Shelby), Samantha Birkholz, Allyssa Pruss (Gabriel), Joseph Metzger, Solomon, Johnathan, Betty, Daniel Stoering, Anika, Moses, Natasha, Tatyana Metzger, Franklin and James Metzger; his great grandchild Emilia Birkholz; and his siblings, Kathleen Hintz (Walter), Roberta Tokarski, Thomas Metzger (Brenda), James Metzger (Anna), Martha Kowalski and Matthew Metzger. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary or the charity of the donor's choice.
