He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Qualmann and Hilda Qualmann (Ewert); his wife Barbara Collins of Mary's Catholic Church; his brother Glenn Qualmann (Donna); and his siblings-in-law, Richard "Dick" McCarthy and Carol Dixon.

He is survived by: his daughters, Susan Pelkey (Daniel), Patricia Loest (Larry) and Catherine Mistir (Girum); his grandchildren, Ashley Pelkey (Shawn Lee), Lara Loest, Alyssa Franklin (Ronald), Tyler Loest and Caleb Mistir; his stepgrandchildren, Danielle Jensen (Buddy) and Joshua Pelkey; his great grandchildren, Trinity Gallagher, Jace Lee and Rosalynn Franklin; his great great grandchild Viella; his brother James Qualmann (Dianne); and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn McCarthy and Daniel Dixon. He is also survived by his step-great grandchildren, step great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
