He is survived by: his wife Joyce (Schmit); his daughters, Cathy Bares (Bill), Michelle Peiffer (Sean) and Jodi Klas (Kevin); his grandchildren, Nathan (Jen), Haily (Ryan), Dylan (Taylor), Bennett, Bryce (Hannah), Karli (Andrew), Jack, Beau, Grant, Grace (Ryan), Greta, Gabby (Cooper) and Grady; his great grandchild Violet; his brothers, Roger (Gayle), Lee and Donald (Sue); his grandson Austin Bares; his caregivers, Bre, Cindy and Lori; Otto and Ruth Damerow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Honor Flight or to St. John Lutheran Church are appreciated.
