He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Winnes and Martha Winnes (Walck); his son James; and his brother Larry. He is survived by: his wife Janice (Schanink); his children, Joel (Katie), Rachel Sybesma (Troy), Rebekah, Jonathan (Anna), Mercy Eastvold (Leif) and Ben (Abby); his grandchildren, Caleb, April, Shane, Natalie, Mitchell, Jason, Gabe, Oren, Elaina, Edmund and Rosemary; and his siblings, MaryAnn Ashmead (John) and Don Winnes (Lynnae). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the St. Luke's Church (23995 MN-76, Eitzen, MN 55931). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
