He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Phalen and Cynthia Phalen (Pallen); and his grandparents, Patrick, Lillian Phalen, Earl and Eugenia Pallen.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Sharon Hoskins (Herning); his children, Joseph Phalen Jr., Khirsten Phalen (Alexander), Ashley Phalen Hatfield and Tori Smith (Joseph Campbell); his grandchildren, Zeke Phalen, Zoey Phalen, Joshua Wendt, Dameon Lampinen, Kinley Fuhrmann, Gracelynn Hatfield, Madelynn Naja, Ezekeal Naja, Aniyah Campbell, Zayden Campbell and Jaelyn Campbell; and his siblings, Gregory Hintz and Teri Miesenburg-Wodkowski (Andrew).
