Laurie Skeris Obituary

Laurie Skeris, of Grafton, WI, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love. Born in Milwaukee, WI, Laurie grew up in Saukville, WI, daughter of Shirley Hauboldt and Ronald Reed, where her quick wit, warm heart, and spunky personality first began to shine.

She earned her master's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and went on to work with dedication for the State of Wisconsin, serving at both the Department of Corrections and the Department of Revenue.

Music was Laurie's lifelong passion. For more than 20 years she sang and played with Pete Skeris, performing country and rock music, most notably in their band Laurie Reed Country. With her powerful voice, original songwriting, and vibrant stage presence, Laurie brought joy to audiences across Wisconsin.

Laurie was known for her generosity, her sharp wit, and her spunky spirit. She loved cheering for the Packers, playing endless hands of Sheepshead, shopping for treasures, and showering her friends and family with love (and often gifts). She was especially proud of her daughter and the many friendships she held so close—she often joked she had "15 best friends.".

She is survived by her daughter Jodi Dennithorne Wasser and son-in-law Adam Wasser; her sisters Sandra Webb and Dawn McKee; her brother Ron Reed; her stepmother Trina Watson; her nieces Candice Mueller, Sarah Petz, and Valerie Petz; her nephews Jasen Mueller and Jeff Daniels; her brothers in-law Kevin McKee and Steve Daniels; and her beloved cat, Gracie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Hauboldt and Ronald Reed, and her sisters, Linda Reed and Christy Daniels.

Laurie was also deeply grateful for the love and devotion of her boyfriend, Art Ehrlich; her dear friend Cathy Klein, who was like an angel in her life; and her lifelong friend Susan, who sat by her bedside each morning during hospice, reading passages to her. In her final days, Laurie was never alone—she was surrounded continuously by family and friends who loved her dearly.
