He is survived by: his children, Richard Heitman, Karen Heitman (Ron Jordi), Debra Freeman (Steve) and Mike Heitman (Cheri); his grandchildren, Christopher Heitman (Amy) and Logan Heitman (Mikayla); his great grandchildren, Lyra and Declan; his siblings, Jim Heitman (Carolyn) and Dorothy Ashworth (Harold); and his sisters-in-law, Lana Byers, Elenore Riddle (Jack) and Nancy Edwards. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
