He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vandenberg and Anna Vandenberg (West); and his wife Kathy (Mueller). He is survived by: his daughters, Amy Steavpack (Dave), Beth Simoens (Mike), Jennie McNeill (Dean) and Anne Slusarek (Mark); his grandchildren, Lauren (Evan Simpson), Abby Steavpack (Zach Smith), Drew (Nicole Baughan), Ryan (Jordi Novo), Meghan Simoens (Jonathan Okie), Brooke (Josh Schloesser), Ian (Sydney), Derek McNeill (Danielle), Ben and AJ Williams; his great grandchildren, Carter Simoens, Uli, Ida, Otto Schloesser, Renick, Retta and Reeve McNeill; and his sister-in-law Peg Harthun. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
