He was predeceased by: his parents, William F. McGee and Elsie G. Fassbender; his wife Mary; his siblings, Mary Ann Horal, Alice Tyler, Patricia Ley, Bill McGee and Jim McGee; and his siblings-in-law, Paul Horal, Dick Tyler, Joseph Ley, John Courtney, Evelyn McGee, Alice Waco, Ann Courtney and Lori Courtney.

He is survived by: his children, Jim McGee (Nancy), Jean Soderberg (Tom) of Bovey, MN and John McGee (Sandy); his grandchildren, Lauretta (Ryley), Matthew (Evo Boss), Courtney (Breck), Andrew (Nikki), Reven, Eric, Jack, Sarah and Kaelin; and his great grandchildren, Nola, James Soderberg and Donnabelle "Dolly" Crowe. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church – Buildings and Grounds or the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation Hope Lodge in Minneapolis.
