He was predeceased by: his parents, William Backes and Mary Backes; his former wife Mary Lou; and his sister Rita Denissen. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Thome (Greg) of Pleasanton, CA, Cynthia Olsen (David) of Appleton, WI, Mary Utic (Peter) of Green Bay, WI and Stephen Backes (Deb) of Green Bay, WI.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
