He was predeceased by: his parents, Vera Mackenna (Fitzgerald) and George Mackenna Sr.; his in-laws, Lorraine and Robert Hermsen; and his sister-in-law Kathy Walder.
He is survived by: his wife Anne; his children, Christine Schroeder and Gerald M. Mackenna Jr.; his grandchildren, Tyler Schroeder, Kyle Schroeder (Danielle) and Hannah Schroeder; his great grandchild Brandon Grovogel; his siblings, George Mackenna Jr. (Joanne), Marlene Mercurio (Joe) and Sharon Krug; and his siblings-in-law, Gary Hermsen (Marge), Mike Hermsen (Judy), Tom Hermsen (Sue), Steve Hermsen (Kathy), Ron Hermsen (Lori), Pat Hermsen (Mary), David Walder, Mary Degner (Chris) and Lisa Van Den (Rick). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
