James left this world on December 26, 2025 at the age of 78, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Armstrong and Rose Armstrong (Naibert); his brother Chet Armstrong, Jr.; his parents-in-law, Clemens and Pearl Brunner; his sister-in-law Carol Armstrong; and his nephews, Mike McGovert and Alexander Ullmer.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Brunner; his daughter Stephanie Cain; his granddaughter Samantha Cain; his siblings, Terry Armstrong (Cathy), Tom Armstrong, Penny Miles, Steve Armstrong (Jeanne), Ellie Barfoot (Joe) and Billy Armstrong; and his siblings-in-law, Carol Loritz (Jim), Clyde Brunner (Donna), Michelle Gillis, David Brunner (Fran), Carla Brunner and Debbie Armstrong. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In lieu of floral expressions, memorials may be directed to the Old Glory Honor Flight. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his brother, Steve Armstrong, for his donation of his kidney that allowed Jim an additional 10 happy years of life.
