He was predeceased by: his parents, Lea Bangert and Armilla Bangert (Ouradnik); his wife Sharon Nys; his daughter Carrie Jo; his grandson Jake Pezon; his sister Barbara Foster; and his brothers-in-law, Dane Nys and Dennis Nys.

He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey Bangert and Kris Pezon (Gary); his granddaughter Brittany Beinlich (Kenny); his great grandchild Kaitlin Beinlich; his brother Donald Bangert; his sisters-in-law, Sandra Meyer and Debra Nys; and his nieces and nephews, Michelle Johnson (Dan), Wendy Sahr (Jaret), Deb Gritt, Jody Meyer, Andrew Nys (Jennifer), Donald Bangert, Jr. and David Foster.
