Larry James Plettner November 15, 1938 — May 3, 2026 Green Bay, WI Larry Plettner, born in Green Bay on November 15, 1938, passed away on May 3, 2026 in Green Bay following complications from a fall in late March, after a period of hospitalization and rehabilitation.
Larry graduated from Green Bay West High School and later from Michigan Technological University. Between high school and college, he completed basic training with the United States Army and later served in the Army Reserves. Following graduation, he spent a year in the Seattle area working for Boeing, where he contributed to work on the 727 aircraft, before returning to Green Bay and beginning his 36-year career with FMC / Hudson-Sharp.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Plettner; his parents, Vivian and Lawrence Plettner; and his sisters, Dorothy Kerwin, Shirlee Steinbrecher, and Janice Frawley.
Family was at the center of Larry's life. He enjoyed spending time with his large extended family, especially his twenty-eight nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his children, David, Susan, and Sharon; and his wife's daughters, Pam, Lori, and Michele, along with their husbands, Scott, Jeff, and Peter. He is also survived by his former wife, Patricia Plettner, and former sister-in-law, Margaret Yosowitz, with whom he remained close. Larry enjoyed being a grandfather to Ryan, his wife Nancy's grandson, and a great-grandfather to Mila and Taylah, and was very thankful to Ryan and to the girls' mother, Holly, for helping keep the girls connected to him.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at The Court at Eden Vista for their kindness, compassion, and dedicated care over the past year and a half, and to St. Croix Hospice for the comfort and support provided in his final weeks.
The family will celebrate Larry's life privately. In his memory, they invite you to enjoy a piece of cherry or apple pie, take a scenic drive, watch a sunset, and of course root for the Packers.
