He was predeceased by: his parents, Antone Melchert and Theresa Melchert (Doxtator); and his siblings, Florence Paul (Ray), Carol Metoxen, Atone Jr. (Kay), Willis (Carol-Living), Harvey, Herman (Annette), Carl and Raymond Melchert (Adeline).

He is survived by: his daughter Tami Melchert; his grandchildren, Matthew Balph, Michael Horzen II, Michelle Dassow (Horzen) and Shane Parisek; and his great grandchildren, Owen Dassow, Liam Wallner and Alyona Wallner. He is also survived by family, and spending time with his child grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
