He was predeceased by: his parents, John Child and Miranda Child; his wife Sandra K. Child (Deiters); his siblings, Virgil, Noel (Lorraine), Harold (Ruth), Jack (Lola), Vernal (Lou), Elma Wilkinson (Art), Marge Bernard (Joe), Iris Anderson (Floyd) and Verda McClanahan (Daryl); and his in-laws, Laura, Robert Huffman, Constance, Richard Armbrust and Mike Deiters.
He is survived by: his son Jeff; his daughter-in-law Wendy Child; his daughter Laura; his son-in-law Tom Hensley; his grandchildren, Nicole Halverson, Kendall Taylor (David), Lucas, Eric and Anna Moser; and his great grandchildren, Caleb and Cass. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
